The Environmental Refuge Monkey Park is a family business. It has 23 acres of a secondary dry tropical forest. It was created in the year 2000 as a place where endangered species and wounded animals could receive the special care they need.

Monkey Park is legally recognized by the Costa Rican Ministry of Environment and Energy under the supervision of the Tempisque Conservation Area, which is currently going through the legal process of becoming a Foundation.
